Atheros Communications seem to have developed an IEEE 802.11g solution that fits on a single chip. It also includes a MAC, 2.4Ghz radio and a baseband processor. More on BrightHand.

Supposedly, the Xbox 2 will use a triple core CPU and graphics technology that's one step ahead of the current benchmark (Radeon R420), like the original Xbox used a GF4 when desktops used GeForce 3s.

Intel will be launching its ‘Grantsdale’ and ‘Alderwood’ P4 chipsets in June, as well as 755-pin versions of the 90nm Pentium 4 and Pentium EE. Meanwhile Celerons at 2.53Ghz to 2.8Ghz will be out at the same time too. More news on The Register.

The Xbox 2, also known as the “Xenon” is expected to be announced on the 2nd of June. Some of it’s architecture has been revealed and it seems like Microsoft will be using IBM’s Power 64-bit processor and a graphics processors developed by ATI.
