Configuring a FTP Server

Introduction
One of the oldest and most popular methods to transfer files is through FTP. While nearly everyone has a built in FTP client on their operating system, not everyone is aware of the options that they have with regards to a FTP server program or a more robust client. FTP is still a great solution for transferring many files or large files at once. Personally, it is very important for me as I take a lot of pictures on outings with friends and this is usually the most efficient way for me to distribute the pictures after I pull them onto my computer.Today we'll take a quick look at my favorite server and client programs, FileZilla. Filezilla is free - there are no annoying pop up ads reminding you to register the program, no time limits, no catch. Not only that but it has a great feature set that would rival a lot of commercial FTP packages.
There are actually two seperate Filezilla programs - the first is the client, and the second is the server service. For those looking just to connect to other sites, the client will suffice, while those who are storing and hosting files for downloads should grab the server as well as the client itself. A general rule of thumb is to grab the newest package.
